How are you feeling as we prepare to emerge from lockdown?
During this challenging time, I have supported a great number of people with my webinars, podcasts and media interviews and I’ve noticed that we’ve gone through various waves of feelings and emotions – fear, anxiety, grief, dread, hopelessness and loneliness. Recently there’s been a lot of anger and frustration. And now, as we prepare for ‘new normal’ and whatever that’s going to bring it wouldn’t be unusual if you’re experiencing a whole other set of emotions including some fear and anxiety about leaving the safety of your home.
People have also told me – and I have felt this too – that they’re also experiencing unaccustomed joy, moments of peace and happiness and a greater sense of connection and compassion towards others.
But others have told me they don’t know how they’re feeling other than numb and shutdown.
All of these feelings and emotions need to be respected and given their space. But how do we look after ourselves now so that we give ourselves a chance of emerging from this challenging time feeling safe and strong?
